SO 101 - Introduction to Sociology

Announcements and Reminders (August 26)

The textbook (Introducing Sociology: A Whole New World) is now in the bookstore. Please buy it today or tomorrow, if you can. If there are not enough books for everyone in the class, we need to know right away, so that we can order more copies.

It's more interesting to read Chapter 1 in the book than in the handout because of the layout and the pictures.

There was a delay in the delivery of the reader (Intersections). It may arrive on Friday. Please keep checking the bookstore to find out if it is in.

The "Discuss" list will be activated later today. You may use it to post messages to the class. If you do not wish to be on this list, please let me know.

Check this page frequently for announcements, class cancellations (not often!), or changes in the syllabus.

Scroll down for the course description, syllabus, frequently asked questions, and other information.

This course introduces students to the outlook on life called "a sociological perspective," and encourages exploration of how this outlook helps us to gain a deeper understanding of our own experiences and of the world around us.
