For this week's quiz you will need to know the following:
  1. The main ideas in Chapter 4 and in the article by Mutari and Figart ("Finland Experiments with the Six-Hour Workday")

    What you will need to know from these readings:
    a. what we get from social institutions
    b. what advantages parents have in Sweden
    c. how social institutions can be changed
    d. the effect of the six-hour workday on worker productivity in Finland
    e. the impact of the six-hour workday on women in Finland

  2. Definitions and examples of the following concepts:

You will also need to review concepts from previous weeks, especially norms, sanctions, and formal organization.

The best way to learn this information is to use 3"x5" index cards, writing the concept on one side of the card and the definition and example on the other side.

EXTRA CREDIT ! ! !
If you hand in typewritten answers to the study questions by Wednesday, October 1, you may gain extra credit to increase your grade for this week's test. You may also use your answers to the study questions as a substitute for the quiz.
