For this week's quiz you will need to know the following:

  1. The main ideas in the section of Chapter 8 called "Social Movements" and in the article by Jay Walljasper, "When Activists Win"

    What you will need to know from these readings:
    a. examples of strategies of social movements
    b. importance of the involvement of local people in a community organization
    c. why the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative is successful

  2. Definitions and examples of the following concepts:
social movement

reform movement

reactionary movement

 For a definition and example, click on a concept and a link will open. 

You will also need to review concepts from previous weeks.

The best way to learn the concepts is to use 3"x5" index cards, writing the concept on one side of the card and the definition and example on the other side.

EXTRA CREDIT ! ! !
If you hand in typewritten answers to the study questions by Wednesday, December 3, you may gain extra credit to increase your grade for this week's test. You may also use your answers to the study questions as a substitute for the quiz.
