REACTIONARY MOVEMENT

A social movement that aims to restore a previous state of affairs.

Examples:

The Pro-Life Movement aims to overturn the 1973 decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, which determined that abortion is a personal decision, not subject to government interference.

The Anti-Gay-Marriage Movement aimed to overturn the 2004 decision of the Massachusetts Supreme Court that found no constitutional basis for restricting marriage to opposite-sexed couples.
