the following questions (your choice):
Why did the government of Finland experiment with a six-hour
workday for government employees? What were the benefits for both
the employees and the people who use their services? Why do Ellen
Mutari and Deborah Figart call this "a family-friendly
policy"?
What
does Kingsley Davis's article on extreme isolation show us about how
human beings need to be taught how to behave? How does this relate
to the concept of primary socialization? Using specific details from
the article, explain whether this supports or contradicts the
position that human beings have instincts.
With reference to
the article by Ehrenreich and Piven, explain why welfare reform has
failed. What problem in the larger society is making it difficult
for former welfare recipients to get out of poverty?
