For this week's quiz you will need to know the following:

  1. The main ideas in Chapters 1 and 2 in the textbook and in the article by Richard Borshay Lee, "Eating Christmas in the Kalarari"

    What you will need to know from these readings:
    a. how sociology differs from psychology
    b. what sociologists believe about instinct
    c. how norms regarding physical space vary among cultures
    d. what Lee did that violated a norm of the !Kung people
    e. what big joke the !Kung played on him to punish him (negative sanction)

If you hand in typewritten answers to the study questions by Thursday, September 9, you may gain extra credit to increase your grade for this week's test. You may also use your answers to the study questions as a substitute for the quiz.
