  3. Definitions of each of the following concepts, along with clear, specific, and detailed examples of each for longer written answers (There will be two of these for which you will be asked to write an explanation or definition, along with a detailed example in one or two full sentences):

  4. An answer, in essay form, to one of the following questions (your choice):

    According to Chapter 10 in Marger, what are the main differences between the "old" immigration and the "newest" immigration? How will these differences affect the ability of the newest immigrants to move into the mainstream of American society and experience upward mobility?

    Describe the pluralist model as explained by Marger in Chapter 13. Then explain what you think would have to change in our present society in order to allow the pluralist model to really work effectively.

    What is the difference between demand-side policies and supply-side policies, as described in Chapter 8? Which approach is likely to bring about the most economic equality? Explain the reason(s) for your answer.
