A sociological school of thought that focuses on inequality and social change – characterized by a historical perspective and a positive view of conflict as a possible means for social change

Example: Conflict theorists believe that inequality exists because, historically, the people who gained the most wealth also gained the power to hold onto it. However, extremes of inequality are not justified and should be eliminated.
